Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office arrested James M. Wood, 58, on July 20, 2026, after he allegedly held his wife at gunpoint for hours and assaulted her.
Wood was taken into custody following a SWAT team operation after deputies recovered two pistols from his Kelso trailer. He faces charges including Assault 1st Degree Domestic Violence, Unlawful Imprisonment, and Interfering with Domestic Violence Reporting.
Wood had previously told 911 he intended to force police to shoot him, according to the sheriff's report.
