Recreational Fire Ban Lifted in Cowlitz County

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Cowlitz County rescinded a temporary ban on recreational fires in unincorporated areas effective Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026. The seasonal outdoor burn ban, which began July 15, remains in place.

Recreational fires include campfires, fire pits, and similar activities not related to cooking or heating. The County Fire Marshal’s Office encourages residents to check fire restrictions before starting any fire. The seasonal burn ban prohibits outdoor burning for non-recreational purposes like debris burning.

Residents can contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at (360) 577-3052 or visit www.co.cowlitz.wa.us for more information about fire regulations.
