The Chemical Safety Board reported that Nippon Dynawave Packaging knew its tank needed repairs 10 months before the May 26, 2026, chemical spill that killed 11 workers. An inspection of the tank's exterior carbon-steel shell showed parts had thinned below safe thickness.
Nippon is now removing tanks and preparing temporary tanks to fully reopen in Longview, with work starting on August 17, 2026. The company's actions follow a fatal spill that occurred during morning meetings, killing 10 of 11 workers who were in two nearby buildings.
