The Gifford Pinchot National Forest trails near the High Lava Fire site reopened on Monday, September 15, 2026, following fire containment efforts. The fire, reported on July 23 after a lightning storm, burned 1,200 acres and prompted evacuations. The U. S. Forest Service confirmed the trails are now accessible but urged visitors to avoid restricted areas and follow posted signs.
