Cowlitz County Expands Burn Ban

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Cowlitz County has expanded its seasonal burn ban to prohibit all recreational fires and campfires in unincorporated areas effective immediately, according to a news release from the Fire Marshal's Office. The ban, initially enacted on July 15, now covers additional areas and will remain in effect until further notice.

Exceptions include gas-fired tables and patio heaters operated per manufacturer instructions, as well as self-contained cooking grills fueled by wood pellets or charcoal placed on non-combustible surfaces. Charcoal and pellet ash must be fully extinguished and disposed of in metal containers. The ban applies to all unincorporated areas of Cowlitz County.
