Cowlitz Burn Ban Expanded

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Cowlitz County's seasonal burn ban, initially enacted July 15, has been expanded to prohibit all recreational fires and campfires within unincorporated areas of the county. The ban is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.

Exceptions include gas-fired tables and patio heaters operated per manufacturer instructions, and self-contained wood pellet or charcoal grills on non-combustible surfaces. Ash must be fully extinguished and disposed of in metal containers. The ban applies to all unincorporated areas of Cowlitz County, as stated in the official notice from the Cowlitz County Fire Marshal's Office.

The Fire Marshal's Office urges residents to comply with the ban and can be contacted at (360) 577-3052 or via the county website at www.co.cowlitz.wa.us for more information.
